Adult Animal Art Classes Summer 2010
Colchester Zoo is offering Art sessions for adults that will enhance the knowledge of students from beginner to advanced.
Each session takes in expert tuition from Alison Burchert who guides you through each stage of your portrait with step by step demonstrations. You are shown how to apply layers of pastel chalk that build up a depth of colour that is often hard to achieve when tackling an animal portrait.
Students work from a pre-printed photograph on a quality pastel paper. This will enable everyone to keep up with the tuition and unique pastel techniques that Alison offers, for an amazing end result that you will be proud to take home.

Schedule:
Arrive at the Zoo by 9.15am to settle into your class for a 9.30am start.
There will be a 15 minute break at 11am for you to take a drink/snack. Please bring these with you as you will lose precious class time going out to buy these.
By 1.30pm you will have a finished portrait that will be spray fixed and put in a protective sheet. If you have an A3 carry case or folder it may be advisable to bring this with you to carry round the Zoo with you.
This is now a great opportunity to take lunch at one of the many cafe/restaruants within the grounds before enjoying the afternoon taking in all the wonderful animals and displays the Zoo has to offer.
Price per adult art class: £45 plus admission fee into the Zoo

If you decide to become a Gold Card member on the day of your visit, its just an extra £23 to join. This gives you unlimited visits to the Zoo for a whole year and lots of extra benefits and discounts too good to miss!
All materials are supplied for each class with 4 hours of guided tuition. Wet wipes are available for you to clean up with, but please make sure to bring an apron or old shirt to cover up with.
This is a great confidence builder for any artist that loves to draw while giving you the opportunity to understand the techniques of pastel painting. All in the amazing surroundings of Colchester Zoo.

Please note: Classes can only be booked through Alison Burchert direct and not through Colchester Zoo. The class fee of £45 is payable by cheque when booking.
The entrance fee for all non Goldcard holders to the Zoo must be paid upon arrival.
