FREE ART SESSION AT COLCHESTER ZOO!
Drawing the crowds in at Colchester Zoo The director of Colchester Zoo, Anthony Tropeano is pleased to announce that Alison will be back again with her pastels for a one day workshop for children aged between 8 and 14. He said “Alison’s art skills and ability to tutor all age groups makes her a special attraction at the Zoo for visitors who wish to enjoy just a part of what the Zoo has to offer” He added “We engage in a full educational programme to give visitors the best possible day that will endeavour to give respect for the animals and their habitats. As ‘Artist in residence’ Alison’s day at the Zoo will surely further the children’s experience”. Putting together an ‘Art at the Zoo’ day is no menial task as Alison explains. “There is a lot of organising, especially when working with children. The young visitors are full of anticipation when they walk through the door and it is my job to guide them through the unique process of the artwork so that they walk out with an amazing portrait and a huge smile on their face.” She added “It’s what I love most about my job, bringing out the artist in everyone, young or old, who participates in a class”. The ‘Art at the Zoo’ experience is totally free once you have paid your admission and will be held at the Discovery Centre on Wednesday August 10th between 10am and 4pm. The 30 minute classes are just long enough to give everyone a ‘taster’ in pastels and a great portrait to go home with. Details will also be on the Zoo’s website www.colchester-zoo.co.uk
