Colchester Zoo’s action for the wild charity.
Katavi the cheetah cub was removed from the enclosure just one hour after she was born when her mother abandoned her. Requiring round the clock feeding and care, Katavi continued to be hand reared by Zoo director Anthony Tropeano. She enjoyed special attention from the media and made national news on the channel 5 programme 'Zoo Days'. She won the hearts of many visitors and became one of the best loved animals the Zoo had seen in a long time.
Sadly though, in November 2009 the heartbreaking desicion was made to have Katavi put to sleep after she endured a two week battle against an infection. Her memory lives on in this superb painting which can be purchased as a limited Edition print for everyone to enjoy.
