Norman's letter had too much text to fit into the testimonial page, so I have decided to give him a seperate page.
The reason why this letter is so special to me is because on the first day of Normas course...he wanted to go home by lunch time.
I always tell the students that this course will take you, kicking and screaming out of your comfort zone. For many, this zone has been a hiding place where you deny yourself your real potential.
Thankfully, my arms were big enough to encourage Norman outside of this zone and prepare him for the best pastel venture he thought he'd never be able to do.
But my word... Norman, you came out on top and made me very proud to have you as one of my students. Well done.
Alison.
Since I retired 5 years ago, I have been going to various Art Classes covering drawing and sketching, watercolour and Acrylic painting.
I visited the Arts & Craft centre at Dedham and saw Alison's pastel paintings. I was bowled over by her exhibits and resolved to join one of her 6-week courses as soon as possible.
After 3 weeks of intensive pastel disciplines, taking me completely out of my comfort zone, followed by 3 weeks on a projectof of my own choosing (Michael Jackson) I produced an unbelievable result.
This convinced me that I had just been on the best value for money course ever!
Alison's teaching skills, patience and knowledge have taken my artisitc ability and knowledge to another level. All this in good company, comfortable surroundings and lunch and tea breaks thrown in.
My confidence with this medium soared and has enabled me to produce creditable work since I finished the course. This has been noticed by my fellow tutor at the local Art Club.
This is not the end of my association with Alison - just the beginning.
I would recommend any artist of any standard to try one of Alison's courses, you will be absolutely amazed at what you can accomplish, however, be prepared to be pushed completely out of your comfort zone - its an amazing and eventually rewarding experience.
Norman Palmer.
